Fifty % of Android Apps Are Downloaded In The U.S.

Half of the discharges from the Android app store is from the United States (about 3,500 million downloads in September). It is curious that a widespread mobile OS like Google is so focused on the American landscape. However, a study will begin to see signs of saturation in the North American territory, on the contrary to what happens in other markets where the number of apps downloaded are constantly growing.

Our country is in ninth place in the ranking of countries with the highest number of downloads (downloaded in September, about 180 million applications from the Android Market). This figure, though far from the numbers that are registered in the U.S., is a sign of good market with Android applications in Spain, and puts us ahead of countries like Sweden, Holland or Italy.

Furthermore, according to research firm Research2 Guidance, Spain is the fifth country in the world that are performed most number of downloads of apps per user, with more than four discharges per head only in September. Placed ahead of countries of Switzerland, Germany, Holland (all near Spain) and Sweden, with more than five applications per user for Android downloaded.

Anyway, for now no one will cough the United States in their domain account when downloading. The second country with the most downloads run is South Korea, but its 600 million apps are less than a fifth of what is achieved in the U.S.. Closely follows the UK, with over 500 million apps, but from there the fourth position of Germany falls below 400 million downloads.

The study also highlights the growth rate of the applications available in Android Market. Each week we go to market nearly 10,000 new applications, and November 4 (last week studied) and counted the Market 365 000 applications. Currently, free applications are becoming increasingly strong regarding payment. Currently two thirds of all the apps are free, and the trend is to increase its share.
